Our Principles

Free to Submit. Free to Read.

The Vitahash Journal charges no submission fees, article processing charges, publication fees, or access fees.

Every accepted article is openly available to readers.

Peer Review Before Publication

Manuscripts are subject to editorial assessment and peer review before publication.

Editors assess submissions for suitability, assign appropriate reviewers, consider reviewer and editorial comments, and make the final publication decision.

No manuscript appears in the Journal before an editorial publication decision has been made.

A Permanent Record of Authorship

Every accepted article receives a permanent publication record documenting:

• Authors

• Contributions

• Publication date

• Peer-reviewed publication status

The publication record is retained on-chain as a durable record of scholarly authorship and publication history.

Fair Credit: The B-Index

The B-Index (Blockchain Index) is the Vitahash Journal's measure of author contribution.

Unlike the h-index, the B-Index does not assume equal contribution among all co-authors and does not incorporate self-citation into its calculation.

Greater weight is assigned to first and senior authors, while credit is distributed more selectively among middle authors.

The objective is to recognize contribution rather than simply authorship.

Authors may also import publication records from PubMed or ORCID.

Transparent AI Disclosure

AI is here to stay.

The Vitahash Journal does not prohibit responsible AI use. Authors may use AI to improve writing, analysis, or figures, including to support authors writing in a second language.

The ideas, originality, scientific judgment, and responsibility remain with the authors. Authors must perform due diligence, verify AI-assisted work, and accept responsibility for the final manuscript.

AI use must be transparently disclosed and becomes part of the article's permanent publication record.

From Submission to Publication

1. Submit

The author submits a manuscript to the Vitahash Journal for consideration.

2. Editorial Review

Editors assess the submission for scope, suitability, and editorial standards. Manuscripts proceeding to review are assigned to appropriate reviewers.

3. Peer Review

Editors and reviewers evaluate the confidential manuscript and provide scholarly comments and recommendations.

4. Editorial Decision

Following evaluation, the editor makes a publication decision:

Accept · Revise · Reject

When revision is requested, authors may respond to reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript for further consideration.

5. Publication

Accepted work is published in the Vitahash Journal with its peer-reviewed designation and permanent citation record.

Journal ≠ BlogChain

Two publishing spaces. Two different purposes.

The Vitahash Journal is reserved for peer-reviewed scholarly work intended for citation.

BlogChain is a separate Vitahash section for general writing stored on-chain.

BlogChain posts are not peer reviewed and do not appear in the Vitahash Journal.

Scholarly work belongs in the Journal. General writing belongs in BlogChain.
