❤️ Not Every High Troponin Is a Heart Attack: Understanding the 3 Types of MI

A high troponin level means there is injury to the heart muscle but it does not automatically mean a heart attack. The key is determining whether the injury is caused by acute ischemia and understanding the underlying mechanism. Heart attacks are now broadly categorized into three clinical types: primary MI, secondary MI, and procedure-related MI. Recognizing the difference matters because the cause of the heart injury can determine the treatment.
