Your Pregnancy History Could Matter to Your Heart Health
High blood pressure during pregnancy isn’t always just a pregnancy issue
It can be an important signal for future heart health❤️
Gestational hypertension (high blood pressure that develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy) is linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease later in life.
A study of more than 3.6 million women found that women who experienced gestational hypertension had:
• 45% higher risk of cardiovascular disease
• 46% higher risk of coronary heart disease
• 77% higher risk of heart failure when at least one pregnancy was affected
The message: Pregnancy history matters.
If you’ve had high blood pressure during pregnancy, it’s worth discussing your long-term blood pressure and heart health with your healthcare professional.
