Why Your Early 20s Can Feel Different
Your brain doesn’t fully mature overnight when you turn 18. The prefrontal cortex, which helps with planning, decision-making, impulse control, and weighing consequences, is generally one of the last brain regions to mature, with development continuing into the mid-to-late 20s.
That may help explain why your early 20s can be a time of big risks, impulsive choices, and the occasional “What was I thinking?!” moment. 😂
The good news? Your brain is still developing—and learning from those experiences is part of becoming a more experienced decision-maker.
Your 20s aren’t supposed to be perfect. Your brain is still under construction.
