🏃♂️ What’s the best exercise for metabolic syndrome?
The answer may be more complicated than you think!
A new systematic review and network meta-analysis in iScience compared 10 exercise approaches across 53 studies involving 2,948 participants.
🔹 Aerobic + strength training: Benefits for waist size, LDL cholesterol, and blood sugar.
🔹 High-volume HIIT: Ranked highly for reducing body fat.
🔹 Low-volume HIIT: Showed benefits for cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure.
🔹 Traditional Chinese exercises: Ranked highly for HDL (“good” cholesterol) and systolic blood pressure.
❤️ The takeaway: No single workout is best for every health goal.
You don’t have to do intense workouts to improve your health. Find activities you enjoy, combine cardio with strength training when possible, and choose a routine you can stick with.
The best exercise is one that fits your goals, abilities, and life.
