Classic French Toast
Ingredients
4 thick slices of bread (Brioche or Challah work best)
3 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
1 tbsp butter (for the pan)
Instructions
Whisk the custard: In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until completely smooth.
Preheat the pan: Melt the butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Soak the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture for about 10 to 15 seconds per side, ensuring it absorbs the liquid without getting completely soggy.
Cook until golden: Place the soaked bread in the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until the surface is beautifully golden brown.
Serve: Serve hot with maple syrup, fresh berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar.
