AI is officially showing up in crime stories.

A 23-year-old Omaha man recently received more than 10 years in federal prison after robbing a bank, and investigators found that he had used ChatGPT while planning the crime.

The case is a reminder that AI can be a powerful tool, but how it’s used matters. Technology designed to help people can also be misused by criminals, creating new challenges for law enforcement and cybersecurity.

And this isn’t an isolated concern: authorities are now investigating recent bank cyberattacks in South Korea where AI may have been used to help hackers identify vulnerabilities.

The AI era is changing crime just as quickly as it’s changing everything else. ⚠️🤖
