Global Debt Hit $353 Trillion. But Who Do We Owe?

Here’s the problem with our current money system: global debt has just hit a record $353 trillion. But who do we actually owe this money to?

It’s not some shadowy “global creditor.” Most of it is owed to each other — governments owe bondholders (citizens, pension funds, and other countries), companies owe banks and investors, and households owe banks through mortgages and loans.

$353 trillion is terrifying… but the reality is far more nuanced than it first appears.

Bottom line: we need a better system.
